It is a Sexual problem in which men find it difficult to achieve or sustain an erection in order to have sex.
It is an extremely common problem and can affect both young and older men.
Erectile Dysfunction can have a deeply psychological impact for the sufferer often leading to feelings of inadequacy and the production of very low self-esteem.
What can cause Erectile Dysfunction?
The causes of Erectile Dysfunction are known to include both physical and psychological problems.
Physical causes can include such problems as diabetes, high blood pressure due to stress at home or work, heart disease, alcohol abuse or other serious illnesses such as cancer.
Psychological causes can include things such as Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Fears and Phobias, previous negative sexual experiences or even underlying issues within your relationship.
Can Erectile Dysfunction be treated?
For lots of Men, Erectile Dysfunction issues can simply disappear over time, but if left “untreated” the problem can become something more deeply “embedded”.
It is important to rule out any potential PHYSIOLOGICAL causes and in the first instance you should consider seeking the advice of your GP who should be able to determine if it is due to a medical problem, in which case it can usually be treated with the appropriate drug.

- Make improvements to your diet or lose weight – The healthier your diet, the healthier your body and the healthier will be your sexual life. Try to ensure that your food includes all the essential components of Vegetables and Proteins.
- Take more exercise & reduce your stress levels – Become more active, get fit and you will find that not only does your general level of stress reduce, but your heart will become healthier leading naturally to better erections.

Hypnotherapy for Erectile Dysfunction
Hypnotherapy can be particularly effective for helping people to locate and then use many of their own inner strengths and resources to combat the problems associated with Erectile Dysfunction.
In this respect, hypnotherapy helps a person to ‘help themselves’ in very much the same way as other therapeutic approaches.
Taking anywhere between 6 and 10 sessions, hypnotherapy for Erectile Dysfunction involves understanding how your earlier experiences, core beliefs and values have played a role in forming and reinforcing your phobia.
Hypnosis itself is very relaxing and allows you to explore memories and experiences related to your Erectile Dysfunction that you might want to re-think in order to produce more positive responses and outcomes.
Hypnotherapy for Young Adults
Research into 18–25-year-olds seeking therapy found that there are a number of barriers to help-seeking including difficulty identifying the problem, concerns about stigma, preference for self-reliance and uncertainty about where to go for help.
At Wolverhampton Hypnotherapy we have developed two distinct pathways to address these specific limitations, firstly a page dedicated to hypnotherapy for young adults and secondly, a page outlining how parents can help their son or daughter access therapy without taking-over or imposing the need for therapy upon them.
